Transport in and around Helsinki

Getting to Helsinki

Helsinki airport has good connections throughout Europe and many budget airlines have regular flights in and out of the Finnish capital including Norwegian Airlines, Air Berlin, Blue1, Wizzair, Air Baltic.

Ryanair flies to Tampere which is about 200km north of Helsinki.

You can also get a ferry from Sweden, Estonia or Germany. If you're interested in a boat trip get in touch as we have some deals available. The boats from Stockholm - amongst the world's biggest and best liners - take one night and have plenty of bars and other onboard entertainment, not to mention a great tax free service!

Or you can follow the example of our Moldovan friends and drive here - it must have been a good strategy as they won the Baltic Plate that year!

The airport

Getting to and from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is fairly straight forward.

The 615 bus runs regularly between central Helsinki and the airport taking about 40 minutes. More detailed information is available on the Helsinki Region Transport website.

The Finnair City bus runs every 20 minutes between central Helsinki and the airport.

Remember that travel on Helsinki's regional tansport is included in most of the tournament packages.

The tournament pitch

The Midnight Rugby pitches are situated in the east of Helsinki, and can easily be reached by metro - about a 15-20 minute trip from the city center to Itäkeskus station. Once at Itäkeskus - one of the bigger shopping centers of Helsinki - the pitches and changing room is about a 5-10 minute walk.
